You’ve probably seen people sharing their life goals on social media or blogs. A bucket list is simply a list of experiences and achievements someone hopes to accomplish in their lifetime. Creating one can help you stay focused on your dreams and take meaningful steps toward making them a reality.
A bucket list pushes you to leave your comfort zone while discovering new destinations and engaging in thrilling activities. Experiences like traveling and learning new skills or pushing past personal boundaries can create deeper happiness and significance in life. Traveling gives you the chance to connect with new people and create quality moments with family members which adds extra fun to your trips.
In this blog post, I’ll be sharing some of the most exciting bucket list experiences I’d love to do—some with my child and others just for myself. If you’re looking for ideas to start your own bucket list, check out the amazing experiences below!
1. Visit the Blue Lagoon in Iceland
A trip to Iceland isn’t complete without a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon—just like you wouldn’t visit Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower!
The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most famous attractions, and for good reason! This stunning geothermal spa offers a one-of-a-kind experience that belongs on every travel bucket list.
The warm, milky-blue water is rich in minerals that nourish the skin, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Whether you soak in the soothing water, enjoy a rejuvenating spa treatment, or simply take in the breathtaking scenery, every moment at the Blue Lagoon feels magical.
The surrounding lava fields and steam emerging from the water give the lagoon an unforgettable setting. Guests can enjoy luxury hotel accommodations and world-class dining alongside amazing spa treatments at the Blue Lagoon which makes this place more than simply a hot spring as it stands as a destination you must visit.
2. Flying via Private Jet
Flying on a private jet is a luxury experience that many dream of enjoying at least once. It offers unmatched comfort, privacy, and convenience, making it a top choice for those who want to travel in style. Private jets deliver a stress-free travel option without long security lines or crowded terminals unlike regular commercial flights which also avoid flight delays.
The aircraft type determines your luxury experience which might include spacious seating options as well as lie-flat beds together with private suites and modern showers while some aircraft feature fully equipped boardrooms for business meetings. Private jet travel delivers total comfort and personalization whether you travel for business or vacation.

3. Discover the vibrant tulip fields at their peak bloom during the season in The Netherlands
The Netherlands transforms into a breathtaking sight during tulip season. Between late March and early May the landscape becomes a picture-perfect view with tulip fields that stretch to the horizon. You’ll definitely fall in love with Bora Bora island at first sight. It’s something you would probably want to add to your bucket list!
5. Drive the Pacific Coast

The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is one of the most iconic drives in the world, stretching from Dana Point, California, all the way up to Leggett, just north of San Francisco. This scenic route offers breathtaking views of the coastline and a sense of freedom that makes it a must-do road trip. Along the way, there are few restaurants, so be sure to pack food and enjoy a picnic with stunning panoramic views—a highlight of the journey.
A Pacific Coast Road Trip is a popular bucket list adventure, and it’s an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetime.
6. Attend a Lantern Festival
The Rise Festival is an annual event held in the Mojave Desert, just south of Las Vegas. Over two days, the sky is filled with thousands of lanterns, creating a breathtaking sight. The festival starts in the afternoon with live music performances, leading up to the main event: a massive, synchronized lantern release just after sunset. Thousands of people gather to release their lanterns at the same time, symbolizing their hopes and dreams.
It’s a magical experience that feels like stepping into a Disney movie, with lanterns floating in the night sky. The lanterns are 100% biodegradable, and “lantern chasers” collect them after the event to ensure they don’t harm the environment.
Don’t miss the chance to be part of this stunning and unforgettable celebration!
7. Go on a Hot Air Balloon Ride in Cappadocia
A hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia is the perfect experience for thrill-seekers and nature lovers. This iconic activity is a must-do for anyone visiting the region. As the sun rises, you’ll soar over Cappadocia’s stunning landscape, gliding past unique fairy chimneys, valleys filled with pigeon houses, and lush orchards and vineyards. The breathtaking views and vibrant colors offer fantastic photo opportunities and create lasting memories.
The balloon flights depend on weather conditions and strong winds could lead to cancellations. You’ll have better opportunities to fly by spending at least 2 days in Cappadocia. Plan your balloon ride on the first day so it can be rescheduled if needed. The best months to visit for warm weather are from April to June and September to October. Remember, it can be cooler at higher altitudes, so dress accordingly.
8. Cruising on a Luxury Private Yacht
Choose a private yacht experience instead of an ordinary cruise. A luxury yacht vacation delivers the perfect retreat by mixing comfort with freedom and privacy. Envision yourself navigating your personal yacht which comes fully equipped so you can discover stunning islands and enjoy perfectly clear waters while relaxing without crowds.
Your private yacht takes away the need to book flights and accommodations along with tourist visits. The crew on board your yacht will pamper you so you can rest easy and concentrate on enjoying your vacation experience. Sailing alone or with family members and friends or even alongside your romantic partner becomes unforgettable when you have the freedom to select your destination and design your schedule.
A luxury yacht provides spacious cabins and luxurious décor with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy which differentiates it from typical cruises. When you book a luxury yacht vacation you get to choose your next destination without the worry of when to sleep. The best part? Complete privacy is yours because you have full access to the yacht without any other guests.

9. Sleep Under The Stars
Every person should have sleeping under the stars on their bucket list because it is an unforgettable experience. The brilliant night sky creates a breathtaking and magical scene when you look up at it.
It’s a fun activity to enjoy with friends, but if you’re looking for some quiet time, sleeping under the stars alone is equally peaceful and restorative.
10. Start a Blog
Starting a blog is a fantastic way to share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences. Whether you want to inspire others, help them reach their goals, or encourage them to step outside their comfort zones, blogging is a powerful tool for making a difference. While it may seem challenging at first, with time and practice, you’ll grow as a blogger. Blogging isn’t just about sharing your ideas—it’s also a great way to generate income in a way that suits your lifestyle. Who knows what hidden talents and opportunities you might discover along the way? Start a blog and see where it takes you!
11. Swin in a Bioluminescent Bay
There are only 5 bioluminescent bays in the world, and 3 of them are located in Puerto Rico. The most famous one is Mosquito Bay, situated on Vieques Island, just off the east coast of Puerto Rico’s main island. In Fajardo, you’ll find Laguna Grande, and further south, there’s La Parguera.
Tiny organisms known as dinoflagellates make these bays shine with their light. As waves disrupt the water surface these microscopic organisms emit a brilliant light which creates an unforgettable illumination. The brief flash of bioluminescent glow makes video recording extremely difficult since it disappears after a split second.
Experiencing a bioluminescent bay through swimming stands as one of the most remarkable natural wonders you will ever witness.
12. Bike from Santa Monica to Venice Beach

Enjoy a fun bike ride from Santa Monica to Venice Beach, 2 of the best spots in Los Angeles! You’ll see famous sights and some cool hidden places along the way.
There are lots of restaurants and shops by the beach, so you can stop and explore. If you’re up for something different, you can rent bikes or rollerblades for an even more exciting experience.
Start your day at the Santa Monica Pier and take a short, easy 15-minute ride along the beach to get to Venice Beach. The ride is simple and perfect for everyone to enjoy!
13. Sleep in an Underwater Hotel
Nothing beats the experience of staying at an underwater hotel if you love nature and breathtaking views. You can stay in these extraordinary underwater hotels without having diving certification because many hotels worldwide provide rooms where you can sleep alongside fish. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or a one-of-a-kind adventure, here are some of the most stunning underwater hotels I’d love to visit:
- Reefsuites (Queensland, Australia)
- Hilton’s Conrad Rangali Island Resort (Maldives)

People who want to relax and enjoy beautiful underwater views will find these hotels perfect. Choosing to stay at any of these locations helps you unwind and relax after a hectic week. I can’t wait to cross this experience off my bucket list someday!
14. Go on RV Road Trip
Imagine driving down the road with the windows down, the radio playing your favorite songs, and the open road ahead of you. An RV road trip makes this dream a reality! With an RV, you can travel from place to place, see beautiful scenery, and visit fun and unique spots along the way. Plus, it’s a more budget-friendly option compared to staying in hotels. If you’re looking for a summer adventure full of freedom and excitement, an RV road trip is a great choice!

If you’re looking for a more adventurous experience, consider whitewater rafting on the Colorado River. The Hualapai Tribe offers 1- and 2-day rafting trips that depart from Peach Springs, Arizona, just 2 hours away from the West Rim.
For a relaxing stay, visit the Hualapai Lodge on historic Route 66. The lodge features luxurious accommodations, a fantastic restaurant, and a trade center filled with unique gifts and souvenirs.
Any activity you decide to take part in will guarantee an unforgettable experience at Grand Canyon West.
17. Experience the Northern Lights
Witnessing the Northern Lights is a breathtaking experience, and there are several top destinations where you can enjoy this natural wonder. Canada, Iceland, and Norway are among the most popular locations for viewing the Aurora Borealis. To increase your chances of seeing the lights, plan your trip during the winter months, when the chances are higher.
The Northern Lights are caused by electrically charged particles from the sun colliding with Earth’s atmosphere, creating vibrant displays of light. In the southern hemisphere, they’re known as the Aurora Australis.
While auroras can come in many colors, the most common shades are light green and pink. The lights appear in different shapes, such as scattered clouds, arcs, rippling curtains, or shooting beams, creating an otherworldly glow in the sky. Experiencing these beautiful and captivating lights is truly unforgettable!

Burning Man is more than just an event – it’s a global cultural movement centered around creativity, self-expression, and community. Held annually in the Nevada desert, it brings together people from around the world to build Black Rock City, the fourth-largest city in Nevada for one week.
With over 35 countries hosting regional events, Burning Man fosters a unique environment where participants engage in art, social connection, counterculture, and free expression. The event attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees annually including many celebrities which creates an experience like no other.
The festival ends with a powerful tradition: A giant wooden effigy is burned to mark the end of the festival as a powerful symbol of creativity and event spirit.
20. Go zip-lining in Costa Rica
If you’re looking for thrilling outdoor activities, zip-lining in Costa Rica should be at the top of your list. I’ve experienced it myself back in 2010, and it was truly an unforgettable adventure. The view from the zip line was absolutely breathtaking! There’s nothing quite like soaring above the rainforest, feeling the rush of the wind, and taking in the stunning scenery from above.
Costa Rica is famous for its zip-line aerial tours, and for good reason. The country pioneered this exciting sport in the 1970s when wildlife researchers used it to reach the most remote areas of the jungle. Since then, Costa Rica has become the ideal place to enjoy this adventure. Zip-lining has been a key part of Costa Rica’s ecotourism since the early 1990s, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Costa Rica’s zip-line tours take you through pristine forests, offering a chance to see unique wildlife and lush landscapes. It’s a thrilling way to explore the country’s natural beauty, and many zip-line trails are nestled in untouched wilderness.
Here are some of the best zip lines in Costa Rica:
21. Cruise through Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay, located in Quang Ninh Province in northern Vietnam, is a must-visit destination, even for travelers with limited time. I visited in 2007, and it remains one of my most memorable travel experiences. A cruise through Ha Long Bay offers breathtaking views of thousands of limestone islands and emerald waters. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its stunning karsts, islets, and natural beauty. While most of the islands are uninhabited, Halong Bay is home to endangered wildlife and has appeared in films, including the 2015 movie Pan.
Many travelers choose to spend one or more nights on a Vietnamese boat, sailing across the bay and enjoying various activities such as swimming, kayaking (one of my personal favorites!), and hiking to the Ti Top Island viewpoint. During my 1 night stay, I had the chance to experience all these activities, but I recommend spending at least 2 nights to truly relax and capture unforgettable photos.
No matter if you enjoy natural wonders or thrive on adventure, Ha Long Bay is a destination you’ll want to return to.

22. Go on Helicopter Tour Flying Over the Grand Canyon
If you want to see the Grand Canyon’s true beauty, a helicopter tour is the way to go. This bucket-list activity offers breathtaking views of the canyon, far beyond what you can experience from the ground. Flying above the Grand Canyon gives you a unique perspective, revealing stunning landscapes and unforgettable sights, including the Hoover Dam.
Many helicopter tours depart from Las Vegas and include convenient round-trip hotel transportation, making it easy to enjoy this exciting excursion away from the Strip. Plus, in recent years, helicopter tours have become more affordable, making it a great option for those looking for a memorable adventure. Whether you’re flying over the Grand Canyon or other landmarks, you’ll be amazed by the incredible vistas only visible from above.
23. Rafting to Havasu Canyon
Havasu Canyon is a stunning destination, famous for its vibrant blue-green waters. The mineral-rich waters have turned large stones a striking white, creating a breathtaking contrast in the desert landscape. Many visitors to Havasu Falls hike through the desert with backpacks, but others prefer to float down the river.
Rafting trips are organized from Lee’s Ferry, Arizona, along the Colorado River, towards Havasu Canyon. The 10-mile stretch of Havasu Creek offers some of the most beautiful sights in the area. While the lower falls and pools of Havasu Creek are lesser-known, they are just as stunning as the famous falls.
Exploring Havasu Canyon by rafting creates an unforgettable adventure that fulfills any bucket list through its desert oasis beauty.
24. Go on a cruise
Cruises offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore amazing destinations and experience new cultures. While everyone’s bucket list is different, the location is key when it comes to cruises. You can see some of the most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage sites and historically important places through cruises because they connect with both common cruise ports and extended land paths.
My best memory includes taking a cruise trip with my daughter. I spent 7 nights on Princess Cruises while exploring 4 stunning islands. For additional advice about cruising in the Caribbean with a child aboard Princess Cruises read this post ”Tips for Caribbean Cruising with a Baby on Princess Cruises”

27. Spend a week in Banff Lake Louise

Lake Louise, a charming mountain village nestled in the stunning Rocky Mountains, is the perfect addition to any travel bucket list. Surrounded by pristine wilderness and breathtaking scenery, it’s one of the most beautiful spots in Canada.

The Great Wall of China, built in the 7th century B.C., is a historic military structure made from stone, brick, tamped earth, and wood. It stretches across China’s northern border, originally built to protect Chinese states from nomadic raids and invasions. As one of China’s most famous landmarks, the Great Wall spans 21,196 kilometers and has a rich history of nearly 1,500 years. Just outside Page, Arizona, you’ll find a stunning series of slot canyons, including Lower Antelope Canyon. The best time to visit is around midday, when the sun illuminates the canyon, creating vibrant orange colors and famous light beams.
